LAIR Leading Efforts on Health Information Technology Education

LAIR members Dr. Mostafa and Julia Kampov have been highly active in the last year writing grant proposals and generating new program planning documents for HIT programs. We are happy to report that UNC now has two new graduate education certificates: 1) Clinical Information Science and 2) Nursing Informatics (developed by the School of Nursing). We have received two new grants recently, one internal from the Office of the UNC Provost and another one from the US Health & Human Services / Office of the National Coordinator. The former is toward a coordinator and manager for the program and the latter is for recruiting new graduate students for our emerging HIT programs. The HHS/ONC effort is part of a consortium which includes Duke University as our partner.
